Director/Artist: Nick Nuttall, Bernadette La Hengst, Sorry Gilberto
Nick Nuttall’s pieces draw on the rich life experience of the singer/songwriter: from a childhood in the north of England to a long-standing struggle against climate and environmental crises and travels around the world. Nuttall has been living in Berlin since 2019 and has prominent fans here: Sorry Gilberto and Bernadette La Hengst. With both of them he celebrates the release of his first album “Just Because Some Bad Wind Blows” (release: May 1st, 2023) on May 19th on the beautiful Weißensee open-air stage.
Bernadette La Hengst has long shared concert stages with Nuttall and also produced his debut. Since her time with the Hamburg school girl group Die Braut haut ins Auge in the 90s, La Hengst has been unstoppable anyway: the “agitation chanteuse” makes music for the theater and creates radio plays, she directs choirs and writes clever catchy tunes with charm and lure you out of your comfort zone with a fat beat. Supporting Nick Nuttall, La Hengst gives a foretaste of her new record, which will be released in November, and also browses through her extensive song catalogue.
The spring evening in Weißensee will be opened by the dream pop folk sounds of Sorry Gilberto, whose 2022 album “Psychoactive Ghosts” is on the road in psychedelic dream worlds as well as on the streets of a constantly changing Berlin.
